Over the last few years, and since setting out on my own in 2009 I have had the privilege of working for a range of organisations and individuals who are kind enough to write the following testimonials:
“What’s great about Facework is its combo of good design principles, understanding of both young people and teachers from close working with both, and focus on the employability skills which matter most to young people’s success at work. Watching Stephen C-D at work on these resources has been inspiring. His commitment to understanding the actual learning processes and experiences of young people, no matter who they are, coupled with his creativity and a natural inclination to collaborate with other educators, mark him out as one of the UK’s foremost thinkers in alternative curriculum design.”Tom Bulman, Director WorkTree
We employed Stephen Carrick-Davies as a consultant for ictQATAR in 2012 to help us develop our National Cyber Safety Strategy. This 6 month project involved Stephen producing a strategic vision document and a full implementation work plan. What we particularly appreciated about Stephen’s approach was that he took the time to consultant carefully with a very wide range of different stakeholders here in Qatar - including running sessions with pupils in local schools - so as to understand the particular cultural sensitivities and dynamics here in Qatar. Bringing together a diverse range of stakeholders to consult, agree and then fully ‘own’ the strategy was what has made this piece of work particularly effective. The 18 discrete work packages which Stephen proposed under 5 strategic aims provides us with an excellent ‘road map’ to follow in our aim of ensuring that all citizens in Qatar use the internet in a safe and responsible manner. Stephen’s wealth of experience in pioneering internet safety work in the UK, combined with his people-skills, enthusiasm, diplomacy and commitment to partnership make him an ideal consultant, and I am very pleased to recommend Stephen as a consultant to other government agencies wanting to develop similar Cyber Safety strategies and ICT projects”.
