David Bowie Interviewed in the Melody Maker 1972
If you want to change public opinion or get your message out you have to use the media and think very carefully about your messages.
During the 10 years at Childnet I undertook countless radio interviews, appeared live on most of the television networks including the BBC, ITV, CNN, SKY TV (a 30 minute live interview) and worked with a range of journalists on various news or features programmes. I have had to write press releases, brief Ministers and executive staff on media messages, worked with PR agencies and had to prepare others for interviews.
Communicating to people face to face is also crucial and over the last 10 years I have also had to organise and run high profile events including national celebrations, national and international conferences, launches and high level meetings, secure venues and commission special events companies. This work has involved me raising funding and sponsorship, secure speakers and presenters, develop presentation materials and also brief Ministers and give key-note speeches and chair sessions.

Stephen was invited to be the guest speaker at a Students’ Union Evaluation Initiative workshop led by ACEVO, to speak on 'My Personal Leadership Journey' to student leaders and their senior managers. He was thought provoking and entertaining, informative and refreshingly candid. Stephen had given our organisation and its values serious consideration in his preparation which was reflected in his presentation both verbally and on Power Point slides. He made a very positive impression on us all and left us with food for thought."
